PR Week Salary Survey 2006

Rising Demand for Talent

Barry Shulman, president of recruitment firm Shulman Associates, says that while there is a general increase in hiring and salaries, he has also noticed that employers are more selective in their hiring practices. “Everyone is really careful now,” adds Shulman. “No one is making unnecessary hires. Everyone is crossing their T's and dotting their I's.”

More Than Just Salary

Shulman says that salary is typically a bigger consideration for those at the beginning of their career. “The only people that are moving for money any more are junior people,” he says. “The mid-level or senior-level people are not moving for money. They don't want to hear about another $10,000 or $15,000. No one is moving for [that amount of money].”
